Linuxfabrik

Package Repository

Signed RPM and DEB packages of Linuxfabrik's own software and of third-party software that the distributions do not ship, built from the upstream sources in Linuxfabrik/packaging. One repository per distribution, for x86_64 and aarch64, to browse directly: el/, fedora/, sle/, debian/, ubuntu/.

repo.linuxfabrik.ch is being restructured. The Linuxfabrik Monitoring Plugins move from their separate repository below /monitoring-plugins/ into the Linuxfabrik repository, which serves all packages from one signed repository per distribution. The repository URLs of the Monitoring Plugins change; the package names stay the same. Until 2026-12-31, each Monitoring Plugins release is published in both repositories.

Please switch your hosts to linuxfabrik-release as described below. It works like epel-release on RHEL: one package that sets up the repository and its signing key. Then remove the configuration of the old repository:

sudo rm --force /etc/yum.repos.d/linuxfabrik-monitoring-plugins*.repo # RHEL 8, 9 and 10
sudo rm --force /etc/zypp/repos.d/linuxfabrik-monitoring-plugins*.repo # SLES, openSUSE Leap
sudo rm --force /etc/apt/sources.list.d/linuxfabrik-monitoring-plugins.list # Debian, Ubuntu

The installed packages stay, their updates come from the Linuxfabrik repository from then on. Hosts managed with LFOps need no manual step: the next LFOps release switches them to linuxfabrik-release. The old repository below /monitoring-plugins/ will be switched off on 2026-12-31.

Set up the repository

linuxfabrik-release configures the repository and installs the signing key. Pick your distribution:

Derivatives use the repository of their base: Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Oracle Linux and CentOS Stream the RHEL one, Linux Mint and other Ubuntu-based distributions the Ubuntu one of their base release, LMDE the Debian one.

On RHEL and compatibles, some packages depend on EPEL and the CRB repository.

Channels

New versions land in testing first and move to release after seven days. linuxfabrik-release enables release and configures testing, disabled. To try new versions early, enable testing:

sudo dnf config-manager --set-enabled linuxfabrik-testing # RHEL 8, 9 and 10
sudo dnf config-manager setopt linuxfabrik-testing.enabled=1 # Fedora
sudo zypper modifyrepo --enable linuxfabrik-testing # SLES, openSUSE Leap

On Debian and Ubuntu, set Enabled: yes for the testing entry in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/linuxfabrik.sources.

How the packages are built

From the upstream source, with the distribution's own toolchain and dependencies, on GitHub Actions, and smoke-tested on every target before release. Each build is published with a build provenance attestation, which this server verifies before it signs and publishes the package. Details: CONTRIBUTING.md, all builds: GitHub releases.
